My company was acquired by Deloitte earlier this year and it’s been an amazing journey. It's given me an opportunity to take a step back from writing to rediscover what I care about and why.
I've never wanted to churn out founder content for SEO. That’s what ChatGPT is for.
I care about entrepreneurs and I want to make the biggest impact possible on how they learn.
I believe some (but not all) things can be taught. But not like learning theory or having a billionaire whisper a secret in your ear at Aspen.
Entrepreneurship is mostly about practice, like music. Going forward I am going to be even more focused on what’s practical. That will include mindsets, frameworks and ways to practice. I like gaming because it's the best way to teach through repetition (while having fun).
So here are some of the changes I've made based on my new focus:
- A new name: Founder in Residence. I’m retiring A Leap of Faith. My newsletter, including this email, now comes from founderinresidence.co.
- All of my content is now easier to navigate. Eg you can browse tags like venture capital, ownership and pitching.
- I switched from Substack to Ghost. Having a paid newsletter is not my goal and Ghost makes it easier for me to publish outside of my newsletter. Plus it has integrations!
- I’ve made a lot of progress on Swagger, my VC board game. I’ll occasionally cross-post here if it's relevant, but it now has its own home: www.swagger.vc
- I’m working on a series of video courses from topics from my founder workshops. I hope this develops into a full curriculum of what founders should know.
